Due to the nature of Viking cruises, they do not maintain specific facilities or services for children aboard cruise vessels. In the circumstances you and all members of your party must be aged 18 or over on or before the day you are scheduled to embark on the cruise vessel.

Gratuities

From the Program Director and Hotel Manager to restaurant servers and housekeeping, the onboard staff is dedicated to serving you. Gratuities are included on board. Any additional tipping is at your discretion; should you choose to tip your local guides and drivers, we recommend tipping at the end of each tour in cash. Most restaurants include service in their prices, and it’s customary to round up generously for good service.

Enrichment

Hands-on demonstrations, cooking classes, traditional dance performances, and local tastings. These in-depth experiences are included as an essential part of discovering more about the places through which you cruise, and each activity is planned specifically to illuminate each itinerary.

Sometimes you want to dig a little deeper. We offer a series of onboard multimedia talks to shed light on the history and culture of the places you visit. Topics may include the Dutch Masters or French impressionists, castles along the Rhine Valley, the formation of the European Union, the life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the wine and cuisine of southern France, and key words and phrases in the local language wherever you are traveling. These presentations provide a context for your own observations, enhancing your travel experience.

Daily Shore Excursions

Most passengers participate in the daily shore excursions included in the cruise fares, and a fair number also opt for the fee-added alternative trips provided by the line. Shore excursions are typically of the basic bus or walking tour variety, but paid-for excursions also include events like wine-tastings and off-ship dinner outings. Prices for these range between 30 and 60 Euros per person. QuietVox headsets with earphones (found in each cabin) are provided for every tour so that everyone can hear what local guides are saying.

It’s been said that the best way to know a culture is through its food and wine. Both engage your senses and provide a window into the traditions and essence of a land. Viking's trained chefs are passionate about food and committed to providing a complete culinary experience.   

Restaurant

Enjoy a multicourse meal featuring regional cuisine and always available classics in the Restaurant, an upscale dining venue with panoramic windows with ever-changing views.

Aquavit Terrace

Located at the bow of the ship, the Aquavit Terrace is a casual outdoor space where your destination is your dining room. Serving both breakfast and lunch, it provides the most al fresco dining on Europe’s rivers.

Health and Fitness

While your ship does not have any fitness equipment, feel free to walk the walking track on the Sun Deck for your daily exercise, or take part in our shore excursions and walking tours. In many major cities, you may access nearby First-Class hotels and use their Fitness Center and Spa facilities as part of Viking’s relationship with those hotels. See your onboard Concierge for details.  

Sun Deck

On top of the ship, take in 360-degree views as you relax on the Sun Deck. Exercise en plein air on our walking track. And enjoy the fragrances of our onboard herb garden, harvested daily by the culinary staff and infused in our authentic regional dishes. For safety reasons, guest access to the Sun Deck is restricted during lock transits and when the ship is sailing under low bridges.
