MS Gérard Schmitter

Overview

Named after the founder of CroisiEurope, the MS Gérard Schmitter sails on the Rhine and the Danube, to meet the many wonders offered by these two romantic rivers.

The MS Gérard Schmitter is an intimate-sized Premium ship, measuring 110m long and 11.40m wide. It can accommodate 174 passengers, in 87 cabins spread over three decks. The size of each cabin is 13.50m2, offering amenities and providing guests with all the comforts they need during their stay. Decorated in subtle chocolate brown shades, combined with glimpses of rosy-lilac, gives the ship a welcoming atmosphere. The decoration, created by Maria Rosa Rosello, pays tribute to the founder of CroisiEurope, who liked to paint delicate and flowery designs. Located on the middle deck, the restaurant, where all meals are served during the cruise, offers delicate cuisine in a refined setting, where large windows allow guests to fully enjoy the panorama. On this same deck is also the lounge / bar with a dance floor, while on the sun deck, an ideal place to relax and admire the landscapes, passengers can enjoy comfortable sunloungers, as well as a large shaded area.

Accommodation

Upon boarding, you will be welcomed by the crew who will help you settle into your cabin. The advantage of cruising is that you will only unpack your suitcase once before you let yourself go to relax and travel!

An elegant setting, a warm atmosphere and quality bedding: our cabins are comfortable, functional, air-conditioned and all have an exterior panoramic view allowing you to fully enjoy the scenery. Some cabins have French balconies or private terraces. Our fleet of Premium ships offer additional comfort providing more space in the cabins.

Gratuities

Gratuities are at the discretion of passengers.
Tipping practices vary widely between countries and cultures. At CroisiEurope, tips are distributed equally among all crew members. This gesture from our passengers reflects their appreciation for the quality of service and attention they have received throughout their cruise, at every level.

How much should I tip?
A tip of €5 to €10 per person per day is a common guideline, but each passenger is, of course, free to give any amount they feel appropriate.

For your convenience, an envelope will be placed in your cabin on your final evening aboard. You can leave it in the designated box at the reception desk when you disembark.

This information applies to river and sea cruises operated by vessels in the CroisiEurope fleet.

On this deck is the lounge / bar with a dance floor, while on the sun deck, an ideal place to relax and admire the landscapes, passengers can enjoy comfortable sunloungers, as well as a large shaded area.

Sun Deck

Take advantage of the sun deck to relax! It is equipped with chairs and deckchairs, allowing you to cool off while enjoying a panoramic view of the magnificent landscapes.

Located at the back of the ship, you can easily meet friends, relax enjoying the view.

Perfect place to meet with friends before excursions or to ask any information you may need to the staff. The Gift Shop is also located here, you'll find a wide assortment of souvenirs, CroisiEurope products and post cards.

We offer an optional excursion program to enrich each itinerary. These are carefully selected, accessible to all, as close as possible to the cultures and traditions of the world. Such as the Rhine, which connects the Netherlands to Switzerland, via Germany or France. Many of our cruises take place from Strasbourg to Amsterdam. Once aboard, you will have embarked for a journey in the heart of various cultures and heritages that these countries have to offer.

Finally, CroisiEurope invites you to venture further north and discover Scandinavia. Denmark, and its capital Copenhagen by enjoying a cruise on the Oder, departing from Germany to Denmark, your stop in Copenhagen will be with our guides and visits where all the secrets of the capital will be unveiled.

Dining

The fine French gastronomy on board is an asset of our company. The meals are created by our head chef, Alain Bohn, member of the esteemed French association Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, which includes only 250 chefs from all over the world, and the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs since 2013. With his team of chefs, he creates each of the menus in the pure tradition of French gastronomy while bringing out the local tastes and flavours of the regions and countries crossed. Our wines are selected to accompany each of your meals. We adapt our menus for people with allergies or who are following a specific diet.

Restaurant

Located on the middle deck, the restaurant is where all meals are served during your cruise. It seats all guests at tables which vary in size with a panoramic view. The atmosphere is casual but elegant.

Our dedicated team offers a variety of activities to enliven your stay on board, in which you are free to take part: games, shows, live music, dance evenings, themed nights, or gala events.
