Overview

The newly converted boutique cruise ship, Lord of the Highlands is the latest addition to Hebridean Island Cruises’ fleet of beautiful and intimate ships. Continuing the Hebridean tradition of providing the highest quality holidays afloat, the convivial company of just 38 fellow guests creates a relaxed house party atmosphere. Cruising through the Caledonian Canal and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland’s west coast, Lord of the Highlands takes guests on a voyage of discovery through the most beautiful scenery in the world.

With rich hardwood finishes, offset by cream panelling, Lord of the Highlands is reminiscent of a Pullman carriage from the golden age. The splendid and elevated upper deck affords spectacular views from the picture windows as guests dine in the Caledonian Restaurant or relax in the Panorama Lounge with a drink from the well-stocked bar. There are nineteen outward facing pictured windowed cabins, spread over two decks, including a suite and four with small private balconies.

The small, personal nature of Lord of the Highlands ensures a different style of cruising and attracts a friendly group of like-minded souls. Thirty eight fellow guests is a comfortable number to get to know, making it easy to find new friends onboard. At mealtimes, everyone eats together, and there are plenty of cosy corners to continue the conversation into the evening.

The dedicated crew is hand-picked to bring the finest service to guests. They strive day and night to ensure that this is the best holiday you have taken. As a small, boutique cruise ship, guests and crew become quickly acquainted. Stewards welcome you by name and will memorise any dietary requirements and other preferences. Accommodation

Beautiful bedrooms – well-appointed and all enjoying views of the ever-changing panorama through the picture windows, Lord of the Highlands’ 19 stylish cabins are elegantly furnished in rich hardwood with the best of contemporary design.

Each incorporates a dressing table, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV, ample storage space (wardrobe, drawers and underbed storage for suitcases), a personal safe for valuables and hairdryer. En-suite bathrooms, with walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin are equipped to the highest standards. For your added comfort and relaxation, warm bathrobes, slippers and a wide range of Molton Brown toiletries are also provided, with regular changes of towels. Individually controlled airconditioning/heating ensures your comfort.

The spacious suite on the John Buchan Deck features a comfortable sitting area with sofa and coffee table, a king-sized bed and a mini bar containing a selection of complimentary beverages. Four twin-bedded cabins on this level incorporate a small private balcony to make the most of the fresh air and sea views. (Please note that when the vessel is berthed alongside views from the balcony may be restricted).

Although cabin sizes and fares vary, Hebridean ensures the same high level of service to all guests, irrespective of cabin choice. 

Category 3 Suite

The spacious suite features a King-sized bed and large picture windows both port and starboard affording delightful views. In addition to standard facilities, the comfortable sitting area is furnished with a sofa, coffee table and mini bar containing a selection of complimentary beverages

Category 2 Balcony Cabin

The four category 2 cabins feature twin beds and a small private balcony with teak furniture for you to enjoy the magnificent scenery. All cabins feature a dressing table, stool, wardrobe, satellite TV, safe and hairdryer. For your added comfort slippers, bathrobes and luxury Molton Brown toiletries are also provided in the en-suite shower rooms

Category 1 Deluxe Cabin

All accommodation on the Richard Hannay Deck are Category 1 deluxe cruise cabins. They are outward facing and boast picture windows so that no view is missed. All cabins feature a dressing table, stool, wardrobe, satellite TV, safe and hairdryer. For your added comfort slippers, bathrobes and luxury Molton Brown toiletries are also provided in the en-suite shower rooms.

The Panorama Lounge is a comfortable place to unwind with cosy seating areas. Contemporary in design, it has a beautiful glass atrium and offers stunning views through large windows. Our delicious afternoon teas are served in the lounge, along with drinks from the bar. It is the prefect place to enjoy a chat with like-minded fellow guests, as you travel to your next destination.

Breakfasts are informal and are as healthy or as hearty as you choose with fresh fruit, cooked Scottish fayre and of course, Chef’s own take on that Scottish staple (porridge), with or without a wee dram!

Lunch varies, depending on the day’s activities, and our dedicated crew is ever-present to attendto your every need.

In the evening, dinner is a full service, banquetstyle, three course meal with coffee and petit fours. Our Gala Dinners are sparkling occasions, from the Champagne reception in the lounge to a gourmet dinner – and no cruise would be complete without a traditional recital of Robert Burns’ Address to a Haggis!

Independent travellers will find a warm welcome, as seating is with fellow guests in a single sitting with a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
